@subhashjsr1
Unable to understand why are you making this sentence in “?”. Nobody is asking question in this sentence, translate as simple.

@subhashjsr1,
No, ‘study’ cannot be used in place of ‘studying’ here.

Lets go word by word

1. You know that before going to play in the evening studying ‘is must’ (or ought to be done).
I would write it as:
2. You know it that studying ‘is must’ (or ought to be done) before going to play in the evening.

Open for corrections. Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks Pi
Yes, Nowhere did the questioner mention ‘Yeh’ in the original post.

@Ooze Zombie,
Technically it is not wrong, but I guess just having “You know that” (instead of “You know it that”) in your sentences would suffice and will look better (at least to me).

@MA, subhashjsr1,
So studying means ‘to study something’, but ‘study’ (noun), in itself cannot be used here because it generally refers to a specific ‘subject’/research/thesis/a branch of a higher educational field. For example, “A behavioral study of 7 terrorists was conducted in Tihar Jail”.

Same logic is applicable when someone asks “आपकी पढाई कैसी चल रही है?” in Hindi, in English we’d ask this as “How are your studies going on?” and not “How is your ‘study’ going on?”.
