An amplifier, electronic amplifier or (informally) amp is an electronic device that can increase the magnitude of a signal. It is a two-port electronic circuit that uses electric power from a power supply to increase the amplitude of a signal applied to its input terminals, producing a proportionally greater amplitude signal at its output. The amount of amplification provided by an amplifier is measured by its gain: the ratio of output voltage, current, or power to input. An amplifier is defined as a circuit that has a power gain greater than one.

इलेक्ट्रॉनिक प्रवर्धक उस इलेक्ट्रॉनिक युक्ति को कहते हैं जो किसी संकेत (सिगनल) की शक्ति को बढ़ा दे। समय के साथ परिवर्तित होने वाले वोल्टेज या धारा को 'संकेत' कहते हैं। उदाहरण के लिए, रेडियो के अन्दर लगी एन्टेना और ट्युनिंग परिपथ के द्वारा एक बहुत ही कमजोर सिगनल मिलता है । इसे प्रवर्धित करके स्पीकर को दिया जाता है जहाँ से आवाज सुनायी पड़ती है।
