The gaur, also known as the Indian bison, is a bovine native to South Asia and Southeast Asia, and has been listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List since 1986. The global population was estimated at a maximum of 21,000 mature individuals in 2016, with the majority of those existing in India.

गौर दक्षिण एशिया और दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया मे पाया जाने वाला एक बड़ा, काले लोम से ढका गोजातीय पशु है। आज इसकी सबसे बड़ी आबादी भारत में पाई जाती हैं। गौर जंगली मवेशियों मे से सबसे बड़ा होता है। पालतू गौर 'गायल' या 'मिथुन' कहलाता है। भारत के भिन्न भिन्न भागों में इसका भिन्न भिन्न स्थानीय नाम है, जैसे गौरी गाय, बोदा, गवली इत्यादि।
