Description
A poet is a person who studies and creates poetry. Poets may describe themselves as such or be described as such by others. A poet may simply be the creator who creates (composes) poems, or they may also perform their art to an audience.
कवि वह है जो भावों को रसाभिषिक्त अभिव्यक्ति देता है और सामान्य अथवा स्पष्ट के परे गहन यथार्थ का वर्णन करता है। इसीलिये वैदिक काल में ऋषय: मन्त्रदृष्टार: कवय: क्रान्तदर्शिन: अर्थात् ऋषि को मन्त्रदृष्टा और कवि को क्रान्तदर्शी कहा गया है। "जहाँ न पहुँचे रवि, वहाँ पहुँचे कवि" लोकोक्ति प्रसिद्ध है।
