Yttrium is a chemical element; it has symbol Y and atomic number 39. It is a silvery-metallic transition metal chemically similar to the lanthanides and has often been classified as a "rare-earth element". Yttrium is almost always found in combination with lanthanide elements in rare-earth minerals and is never found in nature as a free element. ⁸⁹Y is the only stable isotope and the only isotope found in the Earth's crust.

इट्रियम एक रासायनिक तत्व है। यह एक चाँदी-जैसे रंग की संक्रमण धातु है जिसके गुण लैन्थनाइड समूह से मिलते-जुलते होने के कारण इसे भी कभी-कभी उसी दुर्लभ मृदा तत्व समूह का भाग माना जाता है। प्रकृति में भी इट्रियम हमेशा उन्हीं के साथ खनिजों में पाया जाता है। यह प्रकृति में कभी भी शुद्ध रूप में नहीं मिलता। इट्रियम को फ़ोस्फ़र (phosphor) बनाने के काम में लाया जाता है, विशेषकर कैथोड किरण नलिका और प्रकाश उत्सर्जक डायोड में डलने वाले लाल फ़ोस्फ़र के लिये। इट्रियम के यौगिक मानव-शरीर के लिये हानिकारक होते हैं और उनसे शारीरिक सम्पर्क से श्वसन तंत्र के रोग हो जाते हैं।
