बहुजन पालि का शब्द है जो अक्सर बौद्ध ग्रंथों में पाया जाता है और इसका सामान्य अर्थ "विभिन्न" अथवा "बहुत" अथवा "बहुमत" होता है। आधुनिक परिपेक्ष्य में यह अनुसूचित जाति, अनुसूचित जनजाति, अन्य पिछड़ा वर्ग, मुस्लिम एवं अन्य अलसंख्यकों के लिए को संयुक्त रूप से निरुपित करता है, जो संयुक्त रूप से भारत में बहुसंख्यक हो जाते हैं। शब्द बहुजन गौतम बुद्ध के सूत्र वाक्य "बहुजन हिताय बहुजन सुखाय" में मिलता है।

In a modern context, it refers to the combined population of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Muslims, and minorities, who together constitute the demographic majority of India. The word bahujan appears in the dictum "Bahujana sukhaya bahujana hitaya cha", articulated by Gautama Buddha.
