Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide as a month of fasting (sawm), prayer (salah), reflection, and community. A commemoration of Muhammad's first revelation, the annual observance of Ramadan is regarded as one of the Five Pillars of Islam and lasts twenty-nine to thirty days, from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next.

रमज़ान या रमदान इस्लामी पंचांग का नौवाँ महीना है। मुस्लिम समुदाय इस महीने को परम पवित्र मानता है।

इस माह की विशेषताएँ

• महीने भर के रोज़े (उपवास) रखना
• रात में तरावीह की नमाज़ पढना
• कुरान तिलावत (पारायण) करना
• एतेकाफ़ बैठना, यानी गाँव और लोगों की अभ्युन्नती व कल्याण के लिये अल्लाह से दुआ (प्रार्थना) करते हुवे मौन व्रत रखना
• ज़कात देना
• दान करना
• अल्लाह का धन्यवाद अदा करना। अल्लाह का धन्यवाद अदा करते हुवे इस महीने के गुजरने के बाद शव्वाल की पहली तिथि को ईद उल-फ़ित्र मनाते हैं।
