ऊँट कैमुलस जीनस के अंतर्गत आने वाला एक खुरधारी जीव है। अरबी ऊँट के एक कूबड़ जबकि बैक्ट्रियन ऊंट के दो कूबड़ होते हैं। अरबी ऊँट पश्चिमी एशिया के सूखे रेगिस्तान क्षेत्रों के जबकि बैकट्रियन ऊँट मध्य और पूर्व एशिया के मूल निवासी हैं। इसे रेगिस्तान का जहाज भी कहते हैं। यह रेतीले तपते मैदानों में इक्कीस इक्कीस दिन तक बिना पानी पिये चल सकता है। इसका उपयोग सवारी और सामान ढोने के काम आता है। यह 7 दिन बिना पानी पिए रह सकता है |

The one-humped dromedary makes up 94% of the world's camel population, and the two-humped Bactrian camel makes up 6%. The wild Bactrian camel is a distinct species that is not ancestral to the domestic Bactrian camel, and is now critically endangered, with less than 1,000 individuals.
