Insurance is a means of protection from financial loss in which, in exchange for a fee, a party agrees to compensate another party in the event of a certain loss, damage, or injury. It is a form of risk management, primarily used to protect against the risk of a contingent or uncertain loss.

बीमा (इंश्योरेंस) उस साधन को कहते हैं जिसके द्वारा कुछ शुल्क देकर हानि का जोखिम दूसरे पक्ष पर डाला जा सकता है। जिस पक्ष का जोखिम बीमाकर पर डाला जाता है उसे 'बीमाकृत' कहते हैं। बीमाकार आमतौर पर एक कंपनी होती है जो बीमाकृत के हानि या क्षति को बांटने को तैयार रहती है और ऐसा करने में वह समर्थ होती है।
