Buddhism, also known as Buddha Dharma and Dharmavinaya, is an Indian religion and philosophical tradition based on teachings attributed to religious teacher the Buddha. It is the world's fourth-largest religion, with over 520 million followers, known as Buddhists, who comprise seven percent of the global population. Buddhism originated in the eastern Gangetic plain as a śramaṇa–movement in the 5th century BCE, and gradually spread throughout much of Asia, and remains influential in Sri Lanka, East Asia and South East Asia. It has subsequently played a major role in Asian culture and spirituality, eventually spreading to the West beginning in the 20th century.

বৌদ্ধধর্ম একটি ভারতীয় ধর্ম বা দার্শনিক ঐতিহ্য। এটি বিশ্বের চতুর্থ বৃহত্তম ধর্ম যার অনুসারী সংখ্যা ৫২০ মিলিয়নেরও বেশি বা বৈশ্বিক জনসংখ্যার ৭ শতাংশের অধিক এবং তারা বৌদ্ধ হিসেবে পরিচিত। বৌদ্ধধর্ম বৈচিত্র্যময় ঐতিহ্য, বিশ্বাস ও আধ্যাত্মিক চর্চাকে ধারণ করে যেগুলো মূলত সিদ্ধার্থ গৌতমের মৌলিক শিক্ষা ও এর ব্যাখ্যাকৃত দর্শনের উপর ভিত্তি করে গড়ে উঠেছে। এটি খ্রিষ্টপূর্ব ৬ষ্ঠ ও ৪র্থ শতাব্দীর মাঝামাঝি সময়ে প্রাচীন ভারতে একটি শ্রমণ ঐতিহ্য হিসেবে উৎপত্তিলাভ করে এবং এশিয়ার বেশিরভাগ অঞ্চলে ছড়িয়ে পড়ে। বৌদ্ধধর্মের তিনটি প্রধান বিদ্যমান শাখা সাধারণত পণ্ডিতদের দ্বারা স্বীকৃত: থেরবাদ, মহাযান ও বজ্রযান।
