दोलन (oscillation) एक लगातार दोहराता हुआ बदलाव होता है, जो किसी केन्द्रीय मानक स्थिति से बदलकर किसी दिशा में जाता है लेकिन सदैव लौटकर केन्द्रीय स्थिति में आता रहता है। अक्सर केन्द्रीय स्थिति से हटकर दो या दो से अधिक ध्रुवीय स्थितियाँ होती हैं और दोलती हुई वस्तु या माप इन ध्रुवों के बीच घूमता रहता है लेकिन किन्ही दो ध्रुवों के बीच की दूरी तय करते हुए केन्द्रीय स्थिति से अवश्य गुज़रता है। किसी भौतिक तंत्र में हो रहे दोलन को अक्सर कम्पन (vibration) कहा जाता है।

Oscillation is the repetitive or periodic variation, typically in time, of some measure about a central valu or between two or more different states. Familiar examples of oscillation include a swinging pendulum and alternating current. Oscillations can be used in physics to approximate complex interactions, such as those between atoms.
