ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವು ಪ್ರಕೃತಿಯ ಚಲನೆ, ನಡವಳಿಕೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಗೂ ಬಾಹ್ಯಾಕಾಶ ಮತ್ತು ಕಾಲದ - (ಸಮಯದ) ಮೂಲಕ ಮತ್ತು ಶಕ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಬಲಗಳ ಸಂಬಂಧಿತ ಘಟಕಗಳನ್ನು ಅಧ್ಯಯನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತದೆ. ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರವು ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಮೂಲಭೂತ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದಾಗಿದೆ ಮತ್ತು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಾಂಡವು ಹೇಗೆ ವರ್ತಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಅರ್ಥಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಅದರ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.
