आमाशय NOUN
- पेट के भितर की वह थैली जिसमें मोजन किए हए पदार्थ इकट्ठे होते और पक्ते है । विशेष—सुश्रुत में इसका स्थान नमि और छोती के बिव में लिखा है; पर वास्तव में इस थैली का चौड़ा हिस्सा छाती के नीचे बाई ओर होता है और क्रमश; पतला होता हुप्रा दहिनी ओर को धुमाव के साथ यकृत के नीचे तक जाता है । यह थैली झिल्ली और मांस की होती है । इसके ऊपर बहुत से छोटे छोटे बारीक गड़ढ़े १/ १०० इंच से २/२०० इंच तक के व्यास के होति है, जिनमें पाचन रस भरा रहता है । इस थैली में पहुँच कर भोजन बराबर इधर उधर लुढ़का करता बै जिससे उसके हर एक अंश में पाचन रस लगाता है । इसी पाचन रस और पित्त आदि की क्रिया से खाए हुए पदार्थ का रुपांतर होता है; जैसे पित्त में मिलकर दुध पेट में जाते ही दही की तरह जम जाता है ।

By yameen sir कशेरुकी, एकाइनोडर्मेटा वंशीय जंतु, कीट (आद्यमध्यांत्र) और मोलस्क सहित, कुछ जंतुओं में, आमाशय एक पेशीय, खोखला, पोषण नली का फैला हुआ भाग है जो पाचन नली के प्रमुख अंग के रूप में कार्य करता है। यह चर्वण (चबाना) के बाद, पाचन के दूसरे चरण में शामिल होता है। आमाशय, ग्रास नली और छोटी आंत के बीच में स्थित होता है। यह छोटी आंतों में आंशिक रूप से पचे भोजन (अम्लान्न) को भेजने से पहले, अबाध पेशी ऐंठन के माध्यम से भोजन के पाचन में सहायता के लिए प्रोटीन-पाचक प्रकिण्व(एन्ज़ाइम) और तेज़ अम्लों को स्रावित करता है.
