गठिया NOUN
- वह बोरा या दोहरा थैला जिसमें व्यापारी अन्न आदि भरकर घोड़े या बैल की पीठ पर लादते हैं । खुरजी ।
- पोटली । छोटी गठरी ३. कोरे कपड़े के थानों की बँधी हुई बड़ी गठरी ।
- एक रोग जिसमें जाड़ों में विशेषकर घुटनों में सूजन और पीड़ होती है । विशेष—जिस अंग में यह रोग होता है वह अंग फैल नहीं सकता और जकड़ जाता है । इसमें कभी कभी ज्वर और सन्निपात भी हो जाता है जिससे रोग शीघ्र मर जाता है । वैद्यक में वायुविकार इसका कारण माना जाता है । उपदेश, सूजाक आदि के कारण भी एक प्रकार की गठिया हो जाती है ।
- पौधों या वृक्षों का एक रोग जिसमें ड़ालियों का बढ़ना बंद हो जाता है । विशेष—इसमें पत्तियाँ सिकुड़कर ऐंठ जाती हैं । नई पत्तियाँ धनी और परस्पर लिपटी हुई निकलती हैं । यद्यपि यह रोग आम आदि बड़े पेड़ों में भी होता है पर फसली पौधों में बहुत देखा जाता हैं । उरद, मूँग तथा कुम्हड़ा, कड़डी़, करैला आदि तरकारियों में यह रोग प्रायः लग जाता है ।
Description
संधि शोथ यानि "जोड़ों में दर्द" के रोगी के एक या कई जोड़ों में दर्द, अकड़न या सूजन आ जाती है। इस रोग में जोड़ों में गांठें बन जाती हैं और शूल चुभने जैसी पीड़ा होती है, इसलिए इस रोग को गठिया भी कहते हैं।
