व्याकरण NOUN
- वह विद्या या शास्त्र जिसमें किसी भाषा के शब्दों के शुद्ध रूपों और वाक्यों के प्रयोग के नियमों आदि क निरूपण होता है । भाषा का शुद्ध प्रयोग और नियम आदि बतलानेवाला शास्त्र । विशेष—व्याकरण में वर्णों, शब्दों और वाक्यों का विचार होता है; इसीलिये इसके वर्णविचार, शब्दसाधन और वाक्यविन्यास, ये तीन मुख्य विभाग होते हैं । व्याकरण के नियम प्रायः लिखी हुई और प्रचलित भाषा के आधार पर निश्चित किए जाते है; क्योंकि बोलने में लोग प्रायः प्रयागों की शुद्धता पर उतना अधिक ध्यान नहीं रखते । व्याकरण में शब्दों के अलग भेद कर लिए जाती हैं; जैसे, क्रिया, विशेषण, सर्वनाम आदि, और तब इस बात का विचार किया जाता है कि इन शब्दभेदों का ठीक ठीक और शुद्ध प्रयोग क्या है । हमारे यहाँ व्याकरण की गणना वेदांग में को गई है ।

Description
किसी भी "भाषा" के अंग-प्रत्यंग का विश्लेषण तथा विवेचन व्याकरण कहलाता है, जैसे कि शरीर के अंग प्रत्यंग का विश्लेषण तथा विवेचन "शरीरशास्त्र" और देश प्रदेश आदि का वर्णन "भूगोल"। यानी व्याकरण किसी भाषा को अपने आदेश से नहीं चलाता घुमाता, प्रत्युत भाषा की स्थिति प्रवृत्ति प्रकट करता है। "चलता है" एक क्रियापद है और व्याकरण पढ़े बिना भी सब लोग इसे इसी तरह बोलते हैं; इसका सही अर्थ समझ लेते हैं। पद का विश्लेषण करके कि दो अवयव हैं - "चलता" और "है"। वह इन दो अवयवों का भी विश्लेषण करके बताएगा कि "चलता" और "है" के भी अपने अवयव हैं। "चल" में दो वर्ण स्पष्ट हैं; परन्तु व्याकरण स्पष्ट करेगा कि "च" में दो अक्षर "च्" "अ"। इसी "ल" में "ल्" और "अ"। अब इन अक्षरों के टुकड़े नहीं हो सकते; "" हैं । व्याकरण इन अक्षरों की भी बनाएगा, "व्यंजन" और "स्वर"। "च्" और "ल्" व्यंजन हैं और "अ" स्वर। चि, ची और लि, ली में स्वर हैं "इ" और "ई", "च्" और "ल्"। इस प्रकार का विश्लेषण बड़े काम की चीज है; व्यर्थ का गोरखधंधा नहीं है। यह विश्लेषण ही "व्याकरण" है।
