പുഷ്പിക്കുന്ന ചെടികളുടേയും മരങ്ങളുടേയും പ്രത്യുല്പാദന അവയവം/ഭാഗം ആണ്‌ പൂവ് അഥവാ പുഷ്പം. മാഗ്നോലിയോഫൈറ്റം(ആൻജിയൊസ്പെർമ്) എന്ന തരത്തിൽ പെടുന്നവയാണ് പൂക്കൾ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന മരങ്ങളും ചെടികളും. ബീജങ്ങളേയും (ആൺ) അണ്ഡങ്ങളേയും (പെൺ) വഹിക്കുകയും അവയുടെ സം‌യോജനത്തിനു വഴിയൊരുക്കി വിത്തുകൾ ഉത്പാദിപ്പികയാണ്‌ പൂക്കളുടെ പ്രധാന ധർമ്മം.പൂക്കൾ ഒറ്റയായോ കുലകളായോ കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. പുഷ്പവൃതി(calyx), ദളപുടം(corolla), കേസരപുടം(androecium), ജനി( pistil)എന്നിങ്ങനെ നാലു പ്രധാന ' ശംഖുപുഷ്പം കേസരപുടത്തിലെ കേസരങ്ങൾ പുരുഷലൈംഗികാവയങ്ങളാണ്. പൂവിലെ സ്ത്രീബീജങ്ങൾ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്ന ജനി സ്ത്രീലൈംഗികാവയവവും.

A flower, also known as a bloom or blossom, is the reproductive structure found in flowering plants. The male gametophytes, which produce sperm, are enclosed within pollen grains produced in the anthers. The female gametophytes are contained within the ovules produced in the carpels.
