Agnosticism is the view or belief that the existence of God, of the divine or the supernatural is unknown or unknowable. It can also mean an apathy towards such religious belief and refer to personal limitations rather than a worldview. Another definition provided is the view that "human reason is incapable of providing sufficient rational grounds to justify either the belief that God exists or the belief that God does not exist."

अज्ञेयवाद ज्ञान मीमांसा का विषय है, यद्यपि उसका कई पद्धतियों में तत्व दर्शन से भी संबंध जोड़ दिया गया है। इस सिद्धांत की मान्यता है कि जहाँ विश्व की कुछ वस्तुओं का निश्चयात्मक ज्ञान संभव है, वहाँ कुछ ऐसे तत्त्व या पदार्थ भी हैं जो अज्ञेय हैं, अर्थात् जिनका निश्चयात्मक ज्ञान संभव नहीं है। अज्ञेयवाद, संदेहवाद से भिन्न है; संदेहवाद या संशयवाद के अनुसार विश्व के किसी भी पदार्थ का निश्चयात्मक ज्ञान संभव नहीं है।
