In medicine, a stent is a tube usually constructed of a metallic alloy or a polymer. It is inserted into the lumen of an anatomic vessel or duct to keep the passageway open. Stenting refers to the placement of a stent. The word "stent" is also used as a verb to describe the placement of such a device, particularly when a disease such as atherosclerosis has pathologically narrowed a structure such as an artery.

स्टेंट आयुर्विज्ञान में एक कृत्रिम उपकरण को कहा जाता है जो शरीर के प्राकृतिक मार्ग/नाली में रोगग्रस्त प्रवाह अथवा आकुंचन को रोकने के लिये या प्रतिक्रिया देने के लिये प्रयुक्त होता है। इस शब्द का सन्दर्भ अस्थायी रूप से उपयोग की जाने वाली नलिका के रूप में भी दिया जा सकता है। उदाहरण के लिये शल्य क्रिया (सर्जरी) में अभिगमन की अनुमति देने के लिये एक कृत्रिम वाहिका अथवा नाली। चिकित्सा क्षेत्र में स्टेंट शब्द का यही तात्पर्य है।
