Sedition is overt conduct, such as speech or organization, that tends toward rebellion against the established order. Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontent toward, or insurrection against, established authority. Sedition may include any commotion, though not aimed at direct and open violence against the laws. Seditious words in writing are seditious libel. A seditionist is one who engages in or promotes the interest of sedition.

রাষ্ট্রদ্রোহিতায় প্ররোচণা এক ধরনের অপরাধ যাতে অপরাধী জ্ঞাতসারে তার কথা, রচনা বা আচরণের মাধ্যমে ঘৃণা, অসন্তোষ বা অবাধ্যতা সৃষ্টির মাধ্যমে কোনও বৈধ সরকার বা কর্তৃপক্ষকে উৎখাত বা ধ্বংস করার উদ্দেশ্যে কোনও গোলযোগ, বিশৃঙ্খলা, গণবিদ্রোহ, গণ-অভ্যুত্থান বা সহিংস কর্মকাণ্ড ঘটাতে সাধারণ জনগণকে উস্কানি দেয়, উৎসাহিত করে, উত্তেজিত করে বা প্ররোচিত করে। যেহেতু এটি সরকার বা রাষ্ট্রের বিরুদ্ধে সংগঠিত হওয়াতেই সীমাবদ্ধ, প্রত্যক্ষভাবে সরকার উৎখাতের কর্মকাণ্ডে অংশগ্রহণ নয়, তাই এটি অপেক্ষাকৃত গুরুতর অপরাধ রাষ্ট্রদ্রোহিতার চেয়ে এক ধাপ নিচের একটি অপরাধ হিসেবে গণ্য হয়। রাষ্ট্রদ্রোহিতায় প্ররোচণার শাস্তি দেশভেদে ভিন্ন হয়ে থাকে। তবে বহু বছরের এমনকি যাবজ্জীবন কারাদণ্ড প্রদান করা হতে পারে।
