Zionism is a nationalist movement that emerged in late modern Europe in the 19th century to enable the establishment of a homeland for the Jewish people in Palestine, a region roughly corresponding to the Land of Israel in Jewish tradition. Following the establishment of the modern State of Israel, Zionism became an ideology that supports the development and protection of the State of Israel as a Jewish state.

यहूदीवाद यहूदियों का तथा यहूदी संस्कृति का राष्ट्रवादी राजनैतिक आन्दोलन है जो इसराइल के ऐतिहासिक भूभाग में यहूदी देश की पुनर्स्थापना का समर्थन करता है। यहूदीवाद का आरम्भ मध्य एवं पूर्वी यूरोप में १९वीं शताब्दी के उत्तरार्ध में हुआ। यह यूरोप के सिमेटिकविरोधी राष्ट्रवादी आन्दोलनों के प्रतिक्रियास्वरूप एक राष्ट्रीय पुनरुज्जीवन आन्दोलन के रूप में शुरू हुआ। यहूदीवाद आंदोलन का मुख्य उद्देश्य है की फिलिस्तीन में यहूदीकरण तथा यहूदीबाद का विस्तार करना जिसके लिए इसकी विश्व में बहुत आलोचना हो चुकी है। इसके शीघ्र बाद इस आन्दोलन के अधिकांश नेताओं ने फिलिस्तीन के अन्दर अपना देश बनाने का लक्ष्य स्वीकार किया। फिलिस्तीन उस समय उसमानी साम्राज्य के अधीन था।
