A civet is a small, lean, mostly nocturnal mammal native to tropical Asia and Africa, especially the tropical forests. The term civet applies to over a dozen different species, mostly from the family Viverridae. Most of the species's diversity is found in southeast Asia. Civets do not form a monophyletic group, as they consist only of certain members of the Viverridae, Eupleridae, and Nandiniidae.

कस्तूरी बिलाव (Civet), जिसे गंधमार्जार या गंधबिलाव भी कहा जाता है, एशिया और अफ्रीका के ऊष्णकटिबंधीय क्षेत्रों में मिलने वाला एक छोटा, पतला, बिल्ली के आकार से मिलता-जुलता और अधिकतर निशाचरी स्तनधारी प्राणी होता है। कई जीववैज्ञानिक जातियों को सामूहिक रूप से कस्तूरी बिलाव बुलाया जाता है, जो सभी मांसाहारी गण के वाइवेरिडाए कुल की सदस्य हैं । कस्तूरी बिलावों में अपनी दुम के नीचे एक गंधग्रंथि से एक विशेष प्रकार की कस्तूरी गंध उत्पन्न करने की क्षमता होती है। यह आसानी से वृक्षों में चढ़ जाते हैं और आम तौर पर रात्रि में ही बाहर निकलते हैं।
