Plantations are farms specializing in cash crops, usually mainly planting a single crop, with perhaps ancillary areas for vegetables for eating and so on. Plantations, centered on a plantation house, grow crops including cotton, cannabis, coffee, tea, cocoa, sugar cane, opium, sisal, oil seeds, oil palms, fruits, rubber trees and forest trees. Protectionist policies and natural comparative advantage have sometimes contributed to determining where plantations are located.

बाग़ान (plantation) ऐसा भूक्षेत्र या जलक्षेत्र होता है जहाँ व्यापारिक ध्येय से एक ही प्रकार के पौधे की कृषि करी जाए। विश्व में कपास, चाय, फल, कॉफ़ी, ईख, रबड़, इत्यादि के बाग़ान मिलते हैं। अक्सर यह किसी स्थान की प्राकृतिक परिस्थितियों का लाभ उठाने के लिए स्थापित करे जाते हैं। मसलन भूमि, वर्षा और तापमान के अनुकूल होने के कारण भारत के असम राज्य में चाय, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के कैलीफ़ोर्निया राज्य में बादाम और फ़िलिपीन्ज़ के बिकोल क्षेत्र में नारियल के बाग़ान लगे हुए हैं। कुछ स्थानों पर लकड़ी के लिए काटे जाने वाले वृक्षों के बाग़ान भी लगाए जाते हैं, मसलन भारत में इस प्रयोग के लिए शीशम के कई बाग़ान हैं।
