दावा NOUN

1. वन में लगनेवाली आग जो बाँस या और पेड़ों की डालियों के एक दूसरे से रगड़ खाने से उत्पन्न होती है और दूर तक फैलती चली जाती है ।
2. किसी वस्तु पर अधिकार प्रकट करने का कार्य । किसी वस्तु को जोर के साथ अपना कहना । किसी चीज पर हक जाहिर करना । जैसे,— कल तुम इस मकान ही पर दावा करने लयोगे तो हस क्या करेंगे ?
3. स्वत्व । हक । जैसे,— इस चीज पर तुम्हारा क्या दावा है । — ३. किसी के विरुद्ध किसी वस्तु पर अपना अधिकार स्थिर करने के लिये न्यायालय आदि में दिया हुआ प्रार्थनापत्र । किसी जायदाद या रुपए पैसे के लिये चलाया हुआ मुकदमा । जैसे, किसी आदमी पर अपने रुपए का दावा करना ।
4. नालिश । अभियोग ।
5. अधिकार । जोर । प्रताप ।
6. किसी बात की कहने में वह साहस जो उसकी यथार्थता के निश्चय से उत्पन्न होता है । दृढ़ता । जैसे,— मैंदावे से साथ कहता हूँ कि मैं इस काम को दो दिनों में कर सकता हूँ ।
7. दृढ़तापूर्वक कथन । जोर के साथ कहना । जैसे,— उनका तो यह दावा है कि वे एक मिनट में एक श्लोक बना सकते हैं ।
