A yacht is a sailing or power vessel used for pleasure, cruising, or racing. There is no standard definition, though the term generally applies to vessels with a cabin intended for overnight use. To be termed a yacht, as opposed to a boat, such a pleasure vessel is likely to be at least 33 feet (10 m) in length and may have been judged to have good aesthetic qualities.

ವಿಹಾರ ನೌಕೆ ಒಂದು ವಿಹಾರಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಳಸುವ ದೋಣಿ. ಈ ಶಬ್ದವು ಡಚ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ "ಬೇಟೆ" ಎಂಬ ಅರ್ಥದ ಜಾಟ್ ಎಂಬ ಪದದಿಂದ ವ್ಯುತ್ಪತ್ತಿಯಾಗಿದೆ (Etymology). ಮೂಲತಃ ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಳಕು,ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ಸಂಚರಿಸುವ ದೋಣಿ ಎಂಬ ಅರ್ಥವಿದ್ದು ,ಕಡಲ್ಗಳ್ಳರನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ತಗ್ಗು ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿನ ಆಳವಿಲ್ಲದ ಸಮುದ್ರತೀರದ ಸುತ್ತಲಿನ ಅತಿಕ್ರಮಣಕಾರರನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಲು ಡಚ್ ಸೈನಿಕರಿಂದ ಇದು ಬಳಸಲ್ಪಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ತನ್ನ ರಾಜಪ್ರಭುತ್ವದ ಪುನಃಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಾಪನೆಗಾಗಿ ಹಾಲೆಂಡ್‌ನಿಂದ ಬ್ರಿಟನ್‌ಗೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಲು ಇಂಗ್ಲೆಂಡ್‌ನ ಎರಡನೇ ಚಾರ್ಲ್ಸ್‌ ಈ ದೋಣಿಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿದ ನಂತರದಲ್ಲಿ ಇದು ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಗಳನ್ನು ಒಯ್ಯಬಲ್ಲ ದೋಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತು.
