पिष्टं नाम आङ्ग्लभाषायां Powder अथवा Flour इति उच्यते । यद्यपि तत्तत्-धान्ये विद्यमानाः एव गुणाः पिष्टे अपि भवन्ति तथापि पिष्टम् अत्यन्तं सूक्ष्मरूपम् इति कारणतः शरीरस्य सूक्ष्मान् अपि भागान् प्रविशति इति वदति आयुर्वेदशास्त्रम् । प्रायः सर्वस्य अपि धान्यस्य पिष्टं निर्मीयते । तादृशानि कानिचित् पिष्टानि एवं सन्ति -
