Gibbons are apes in the family Hylobatidae. The family historically contained one genus, but now is split into four extant genera and 20 species. Gibbons live in subtropical and tropical rainforests from eastern Bangladesh to Northeast India to southern China and Indonesia.

கிப்பன் ஒருவகை சிறிய மனிதக் குரங்கு குடும்பமாகும். இவை கிளைக்கு கிளை தாவுவதில் மிக வல்லமை படைத்தவை. இதன் கைகள் நீளமாக மரக்கிளைகள் இடையே தாவுவதற்கு ஏற்றார்போல உள்ளன. பெரும்பாலும், இந்தியா, இந்தோனேசியா, தென் சீனா ஆகிய பகுதிகளில் மழைவளம் நிறந்த செழிப்பான காடுகளில் வாழ்கின்றன. சாவா, சுமத்திரா, போர்னியோ ஆகிய இந்தோனேசியத் தீவுகளிலும் வாழ்கின்றன. கிப்பன்கள் புறத்தோற்ற அடிப்படையில் நான்கு பேரினங்களால் பிரிக்கப்படுகின்றன. அவை ஐலோபேட் (44), ஊலாக் (38), நோமாஸ்கசு (52), and சிம்வலாங்க சு (50).
