In botany, a stoma, also called a stomate, is a pore found in the epidermis of leaves, stems, and other organs, that controls the rate of gas exchange between the internal air spaces of the leaf and the atmosphere. The pore is bordered by a pair of specialized parenchyma cells known as guard cells that regulate the size of the stomatal opening.

இலைத்துளைகள் (stomata) என்பவை தாவர இலை, தண்டு, மற்றும் வாயுப் பரிமாற்றத்தில் ஈடுபடும் பிற தாவர உறுப்புகளின் மேற்புறத்தோலில் காணப்படும் துளைகளுக்கானத் தாவரவியல் பெயராகும். இவற்றை சுடோமேட்டா என்ற பெயரால் அழைக்கிறார்கள் ஒவ்வொரு துளையின் ஓரமும் காப்பு செல்கள் எனப்படும் ஒரு சோடி சிறப்பு பாரங்கைமா செல்களால் ஆக்கப்பட்டுள்ளன. இவையே திறப்பின் அளவைக் கட்டுப்படுத்தும் பொறுப்பைப் பெற்றுள்ளன.
