1. एक छोटा लंबा कीड़ा जो घुन की तरह अन्न को, विशेषतः धान को, खा जाता अथवा खराब कराता है और उसे जमने योग्य नहीं रहने देता ।
2. किसी एक ही निश्चित घेरे या मंडल में नाचने या चलने की क्रिया । मंडल घूमना । गोड़ापाही ।
3. पतली छड़ियों या बेतों का बना हुआ जोलाहों का एक ढाँचा जिसपर ताने के सूत को फैलाकर उसे खूब माजते हैं । टिकठी । अड्डा ।
4. घोड़ों की एक बीमारी जिसमें उनके पैर सूज जाते हैं और वे चल नहीं सकते ।
5. एक पुराना छोटा सिक्का जो आने का १२वाँ, या एक पैसे का तीसरा भाग होता था ।
6. छो़टी सीधी लकीर जो किसी संख्या के आगे लगाने से इकाई का चतुर्थांश प्रकट करती है, जैसे ४ । से चार ओर एक इकाई का चौथा भाग, अर्थात् सवा चार ।
7. दीर्घ आकार सूचक मात्रा जिसे अक्षर को दीर्घ करने के लिये लगाते है, जैसे,—क से का, द से दा ।
8. छोटी खड़ी रेखा जो किसी वाक्य के अंत में पूर्ण विराम सूचित करने के लिये लगाई जाती है ।
9. पिटारी जिसमें स्ञियाँ अपने आभूषणादि रखती हैं ।
10. छापे के घिसे हुए और रद्दी टाइप । (मुद्रण) ।

Description

पाई (π) एक गणितीय नियतांक है जिसका संख्यात्मक मान किसी वृत्त की परिधि और उसके व्यास के अनुपात के बराबर होता है। इस अनुपात के लिये π संकेत का प्रयोग सर्वप्रथम सन् १७०६ में आया। इसका मान 22/7 के बराबर होता है। यह एक अपरिमेय राशि है।

The number π is a mathematical constant that is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, approximately equal to 3.14159. The number π appears in many formulae across mathematics and physics. It is an irrational number, meaning that it cannot be expressed exactly as a ratio of two integers, although fractions such as are commonly used to approximate it. Consequently, its decimal representation never ends, nor enters a permanently repeating pattern. It is a transcendental number, meaning that it cannot be a solution of an equation involving only finite sums, products, powers, and integers. The transcendence of π implies that it is impossible to solve the ancient challenge of squaring the circle with a compass and straightedge. The decimal digits of π appear to be randomly distributed, but no proof of this conjecture has been found.
