ದಿಕ್ಸೂಚಿ (compass)ದಿಕ್ಕನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುವ ಉಪಕರಣ.ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಕಾಲದಿಂದಲೂ ನಾವಿಕರ ಸಂಗಾತಿಯಾದ ಸರಳ ಉಪಕರಣ.ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ 'ಮತ್ಸ್ಯಯಂತ್ರ'ವೆಂದು ಉಪಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿತ್ತು.ಹಿಂದಿನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನೀರು ಅಥವಾ ಎಣ್ಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಲೋಹದ ಮೀನನ್ನು ತೇಲಿ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ದಿಕ್ಕನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.ಹಲವಾರು ಬಾರಿ ರೂಪಾಂತರ ಹಾಗೂ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಹೊಂದಿ ಈಗಿನ ರೂಪಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿರುತ್ತದೆ.ಇದನ್ನು ಉತ್ತರಮುಖಿ ಎಂದೂ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಾರೆ.
