ਬਚਪਨ ਦੀ ਉਮਰ ਜਨਮ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਲ੍ਹੜਪੁਣੇ ਤੱਕ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਬਚਪਨ ਦੀ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹੀ ਉਮਰ ਹਰ ਇੱਕ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਉਂਦੀ ਤੇ ਪਿਆਰੀ ਲੱਗਦੀ ਹੈ। ਮਨੋਵਿਗਿਆਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਚਪਨ ਨੂੰ ਬਾਲ ਅਵਸਥਾ, ਆਰੰਭਿਕ ਅਵਸਥਾ, ਮੱਧ ਬਚਪਨ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਲ੍ਹੜਪੁਣਾ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੰਡਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਬੱਚੇ ਬਚਪਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਨਮਾਨੀਆਂ, ਮਾਸੂਮ ਸ਼ਰਾਰਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੋਹ ਲੈਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਤੋਤਲੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਬਚਪਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਅਵਸਥਾ ਅਸਲ ਅਰਥਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਾਦਸ਼ਾਹ ਵਾਲੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ। ਬਚਪਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਦੀਆਂ ਨਾਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਿਆਰ ਆਪਮੁਹਾਰੇ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ। ਬਚਪਨ ਅਸਲੀ, ਸੱਚਾ, ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਦੁਹਰਾਇਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਜੀਵਨ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਉਦੋਂ ਕੀ ਵਾਪਰਿਆ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਰ੍ਹਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਿਸ ਨੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੀ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਕੀਤੀ, ਆਲੇ-ਦੁਆਲੇ ਦੇ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਿਲ ਤੇ ਦਿਮਾਗ਼ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀ ਦਾਖ਼ਲ ਹੋਇਆ, ਵੱਡੀ ਹੱਦ ਤੱਕ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਥਣਗੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਕਿਹੋ ਜਿਹਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਣੇਗਾ।
