An export in international trade is a good produced in one country that is sold into another country or a service provided in one country for a national or resident of another country. The seller of such goods or the service provider is an exporter; the foreign buyers is an importer. Services that figure in international trade include financial, accounting and other professional services, tourism, education as well as intellectual property rights.

আন্তর্জাতিক বাণিজ্যে রপ্তানি হল একটি দেশে উৎপাদিত পণ্য অন্য দেশে বিক্রি করা বা অন্য দেশের নাগরিক বা বাসিন্দাদের জন্য পরিষেবা সরবরাহ করা। এই ধরনের পণ্যের বিক্রেতা বা পরিষেবা প্রদানকারীকে রপ্তানিকারক বলা হয়। অন্যদিকে ওই পন্যের ক্রেতা বা পরিষেবা গ্রহণকারীকে আমদানিকারক বলা হয়। আন্তর্জাতিক বাণিজ্যে বর্তমানে প্রায় সব ধরনের পণ্য আমদানি এবং রপ্তানি করা হয়। পরিসেবাগুলির মধ্যে আর্থিক, অ্যাকাউন্টিং এবং অন্যান্য পেশাদার পরিষেবা, পর্যটন, শিক্ষা এবং সেইসাথে মেধা সম্পত্তি অধিকার অন্তর্ভুক্ত রয়েছে।
