विवरण

A floor is the bottom surface of a room or vehicle. Floors vary from simple dirt in a cave to many layered surfaces made with modern technology. Floors may be stone, wood, bamboo, metal or any other material that can support the expected load.

फर्श भवन का वह अंग है जो चलने-फिरने के काम आता है। कच्ची मिट्टी के फर्श से लेकर आधुनिक तकनीक से बने बहु-स्तरीय फर्श तक अनेकों प्रकार के फर्श होते हैं। अच्छे फर्श से भवन की शोभा ही नहीं बढ़ती वरन् उसे आसानी से साफ सुथरा रखा जा सकता है। फर्श पत्थर, लकड़ी, बाँस, धातु या कंक्रीट आदि की हो सकती है। प्रायः फर्श के दो भाग होते हैं- नीचे का भाग, जो लोड सहन करने के ध्येय से बनाया जाता है, तथा ऊपरी फर्श जो चलने के लिये अच्छा हो और सुन्दर दिखे। आधुनिक भवनों में फर्श के नीचे ही बिजली के तार, पानी के पाइप आदि बिछाये गये होते हैं।
