बैराज (barrage) एक विशेष प्रकार का बांध ही है जिसमें बड़े-बड़े द्वारों (गेट) की शृंखला होती है। इन द्वारों को आवश्यकतानुसार बन्द किया या खोला जा सकता है और इस प्रकार इससे होकर बहने वाले जल की मात्रा का नियंत्रण किया जा सकता है। बराजों द्वारा नदियों के प्रवाह तथा उनके जलस्तर को नियंत्रित यह है कि बांध निर्माण का मुख्य उद्देश्य किसी जलाशय में जल के भण्डारण के लिये किया जाता है जिसके द्वारा जल का स्तर पर्याप्त रूप से ऊँचा उठ जाता है।
