A road is a thoroughfare for the conveyance of traffic that mostly has an improved surface for use by vehicles and pedestrians. Unlike streets, whose primary function is to serve as public spaces, the main function of roads is transportation.

માર્ગ એટલે એક જગ્યાએથી બીજી કોઇપણ જગ્યા પર જવા માટેનો રસ્તો, કે જેના દ્વારા ચાલીને કે કોઇ પ્રકારના વાહનની મદદ લઇને બે જગ્યા વચ્ચેનું અંતર પાર કરી શકાય. વિજ્ઞાનના વિકાસને કારણે હાલમાં સડકમાર્ગ, જળમાર્ગ, હવાઇમાર્ગ, રેલમાર્ગ તેમ જ ઉડનખટોલા(રોપ વે) વ્યવહારમાં છે, જે કોઇપણ બે સ્થળો વચ્ચેની હેરફેર માટે ખૂબ જ ઉપયોગી છે.
