अपमान किसी के मन को गलत बात, व्यवहार, कृत्य अथवा भंगिमा द्वारा ठेस पहुँचाना अथव किसी के सम्मान का हनन करना या उसकी पगड़ी उछालना या उसे किसी भी तरीके से जलिल करना या उसकी शारिरिक रचना या जाति का मजाक उड़ाना आदि सब अपमान की श्रेणी में आता है।
