बन्दूक बीसवीं सदी तक सैनिकों द्वारा प्रयुक्त एक प्रमुख हथियार रहा है। यह आकार में बड़ा एवं वजनी होता है। साम्राज्यवाद के दौर में मुख्यतः इसी अस्त्र के कारण यूरोपीय सेनाओं ने एशियाई, अफ्रीकी एवं अमेरिकी भूभागों पर अपना प्रभुत्व स्थापित कर लिया था। इकनाली बन्दूक में एक बार मे केवल एक ही गोली भर कर दागी जाती है जबकि दुनाली बन्दूक में दो गोलियाँ भरकर क्रमश: दागी जा सकती हैं। आजकल भारत की आम जनता में जो लाइसेंसी बन्दूकें मिलती हैं उनमें प्राय: बारह बोर के ही कारतूस प्रयोग में लाये जाते हैँ। ब्रिटिश भारत में प्राय: विदेश में बनी बन्दूकें ही अमीर लोगों के पास होती थीं किन्तु अब भारतीय आयुध निर्माणी द्वारा बनायी गयीं इकनाली व दुनाली बन्दूकें यहाँ के शस्त्र विक्रेता अपने पास रखने लगे हैं। इन्हें कोई भी शस्त्र अनुज्ञप्ति धारक उनसे सीधे मूल्य देकर खरीद सकता है।
