Description

Adoption is a process whereby a person assumes the parenting of another, usually a child, from that person's biological or legal parent or parents. Legal adoptions permanently transfer all rights and responsibilities, along with filiation, from the biological parents to the adoptive parents.

ਗੋਦ ਲੈਣਾ ਇੱਕ ਪ੍ਰਕਿਰਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਭਾਵ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜਦੋਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਬੱਚੇ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪਾਲਣ ਪੋਸ਼ਣ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਦੂਜੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਵਿਗਿਆਨਿਕ ਜਾਂ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਗੋਦ ਲਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਗੋਦ ਲੈਣ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਬੱਚੇ ਦੇ ਜੀਵਵਿਗਿਆਨਿਕ ਜਾਂ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਮਾਪਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਖਤਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਗੋਦ ਲੈਣ ਦੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਰੁਤਬੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੱਕੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਪਰਿਵਰਤਨ ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਤਿਹਾਸਿਕ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਸਮਾਜਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੋਦ ਲੈਣ ਸੰਬੰਧੀ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਬਣਾਏ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਜਦਕਿ ਕਈ ਸਮਾਜਾਂ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਘੱਟ ਰਸਮੀ ਰਿਵਾਜਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੋਦ ਲੈਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਨਜ਼ੂਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਗੋਦ ਲੈਣ ਦਾ ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਸਿਸਟਮ,ਇਹ 20ਵੀਂ ਸਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਇਆ, ਵਧੇਰੇ ਨਿਯਮਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਾਇਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
