In mathematics, a toroid is a surface of revolution with a hole in the middle. The axis of revolution passes through the hole and so does not intersect the surface. For example, when a rectangle is rotated around an axis parallel to one of its edges, then a hollow rectangle-section ring is produced. If the revolved figure is a circle, then the object is called a torus.

சுருள்வளையம் (toroid) என்பது நடுவில் துளையுள்ள ஒரு சுழற்சி மேற்பரப்பு. சுருள்வளையத்தின் சுழற்சி அச்சானது இத்துளையின் வழியே செல்லும்; மேலும் அது சுழற்சி மேற்பரப்பைச் சந்திக்காது. எடுத்துக்காட்டாக, ஒரு செவ்வகத்தை அதன் ஒரு விளிம்புக்கு இணையான கோட்டை அச்சாகக் கொண்டு சுழற்றக்கிடைக்கும் சுழற்சி மேற்பரப்பானது, செவ்வக வெட்டுமுகங்கொண்ட உள்ளீடற்ற வளையமாகக் கிடைக்கும். சுழற்றப்படும் வடிவம் சதுரமாக இருப்பின் சுருள்வளையத்தின் வெட்டுமுகம் சதுரமாக இருக்கும்.
