- गति । चाल ।
- सूर्य या चंद्रमा की दक्षिण से उत्तर या उत्तर से दक्षिण की गति या प्रवृत्ति जिसको उत्तरायण और दक्षिणयन कहते हैं । बारह राशिचक का आधा । विशेष—मकर से मिथुन तक छह राशियों को उत्तरायण कहते हैं । कवोंकि इसमें स्यित पूर्य या चंद्र पूर्व से पश्चिम को जाते हुए भी क्रम से कुछ कुछ उत्तर को भुकते जाते हैं । ऐसे ही कर्क से धनु की संक्रांति तक जव सुर्य या चंद्र की गति दक्षिण की ओर झुकी हुई दिखाई देती है तब दक्षिणायन होता है ।
- राशिचक्र की गति । विशेष—ज्योतिषशास्व के अनुसार यह राशिचक प्रतिवर्ष २४ विकला, प्रतिमास ४ विकला, ३. अनुकला और प्रतिदिन ९. अनुकला खिसकता है । ६३ वर्ष ८ महीने में राशिचक्र विषुवत् रेखा पर पूरा एक फेरा लगाता है । याह दो भागों में विभक्त है—प्रागयन और पश्चादयन ।
- ग्रह तारादि की गति का ज्ञान जिस शास्त्र में हो । ज्योतिष शास्त्र ।
- सेना की गति । एक प्रकार का सेनानिवेश (कवायद) जिसके अनुसार व्यूह में प्रवेश करते हैं ।

- एक प्रकार का यज्ञ जो अयन के प्रारंभ में होता था ।
