A gang is a group or society of associates, friends, or members of a family with a defined leadership and internal organization that identifies with or claims control over territory in a community and engages, either individually or collectively, in illegal, and possibly violent, behavior, with such behavior often constituting a form of organized crime.

गिरोह ऐसे किसी समूह को कहते हैं जो अपराधिक गतिविधि में लिप्त हो और किसी इलाके में गैर-कानूनी कार्य संगठित तौर से करते हो। इस शब्द का प्रयोग साधारण समूह के लिये भी किया जाता हैं, जैसे लड़कों का समूह। लेकिन इसके लिये उचित शब्द टोली अधिक उपयुक्त है और गैर-अपराधिक प्रयोग में लिया जाता है। गिरोह में एक ही रुचि और सामाजिक स्थिति के व्यक्ति सम्मलित होते हैं। अधिकतर अविवाहित पुरुष ही गिरोह का निर्माण करते हैं।
