केन्द्रीय गृह सचिव ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र की एक रिपोर्ट को उद्धृत करते हुए कहा कि आपदाओं के कारण पिछले दो दशकों में विश्व भर में तीन लाख करोड़ (ट्रिलियन) अमेरिकी डॉलर का व्यापक आर्थिक नुकसान हुआ था।
Citing a UN Report, the Union Home Secretary said disasters had caused economic losses of US 3 trillion globally during the last two decades.
अकेले भारत को वर्ष 1997 से लेकर वर्ष 2017 तक की अवधि के दौरान 80 अरब डॉलर का भारी नुकसान उठाना पड़ा।
India alone suffered losses to the tune of 80 billion during 1997-2017.
श्री गाबा ने भारत में विभिन्न तरह की आपदाओं की आशंका का जिक्र करते हुए कम से कम आर्थिक नुकसान सुनिश्चित करने के लिए दीर्घकालिक उपाय के रूप में ऐसी बुनियादी ढांचागत सुविधाओं का निर्माण करने का आह्वान किया, जो आपदाओं की मार सहने में सक्षम हों।
Stating that our country is prone to various kinds of disasters, Shri Gauba called for building Disaster Resilient Infrastructure as a long term measure to minimize the economic losses.
उन्होंने पृथ्वी और पर्यावरण से लाभ उठाने को कहा। उन्होंने कहा कि सतत विकास में उपलब्ध प्राकृतिक संसाधनों के सक्षम और किफायती उपयोग की बात कही गई है और इसमें जैव-विविधता शामिल है। उपराष्ट्रपति ने कहा कि हमारे सामने आज वनों का नष्ट होना और प्रजातियों के नुकसान की गंभीर चुनौती है।
Observing that sustainable development mandates the efficient and frugal use of available natural resources including biodiversity, the Vice President said a grave challenge we face today is the destruction of forests and the loss of species.
उन्होंने कहा कि समाज के विकास के साथ मानव और प्रकृति के संबंध पर प्रहार हो रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि पर्यावरण को किसी तरह का नुकसान से आने वाली पीढ़ियों का भविष्य खतरे में आ जाएगा।
Lamenting that the symbiotic relationship of man with nature was being threatened as societies develop, the Vice President warned that any damage to environment would put the well-being of future generations in peril.

वर्ष 2014-15 में 255 करोड़ रुपये का नुकसान हुआ जिसका मुख्य कारण कोयला खनन पर पाबंदी लगाना था।
A loss of Rs 255 crores is seen in year 2014-15 which is mainly on account of ban on coal mining.
राज्य सरकार ने कुल मिलाकर 600 करोड़ रुपये के वार्षिक राजस्व नुकसान का अनुमान लगाया क्योंकि ओटीआर यानी अन्य कर राजस्व (बिक्री कर, उत्पाद शुल्क इत्यादि) में भी कमी दर्ज की गई।
The State Govt. has estimated a total annual revenue loss of Rs 600 crores as a fall was seen in OTR (sales tax, excise etc) as well.
उन्होंने कहा कि आपूर्ति श्रृंखला उद्योग फसल कटाई के बाद नुकसान से ग्रस्त है और यह हताश करने वाली बात है कि हर वर्ष बहुत अधिक मात्रा में उत्पाद का नुकसान होता है।
The Minister also added that post-harvest loses have plagued the supply chain industry, and it is disheartening that every year, substantial produce is lost.
टिकाऊ वस्तुओं का अनुमानित नुकसान 3-10 प्रतिशत, आधी खराब होने वाली वस्तुओं और दूध, मछली, मांस तथा अंडे जैसी वस्तुओं का नुकसान करीब 10-20 प्रतिशत और फलों और सब्जियों का नुकसान 10-20 प्रतिशत तथा बागवानी उत्पाद में नुकसान 5-16 प्रतिशत है।
Estimated loss in durables is 3-10, semi-perishables and commodities as milk, fish, meat and eggs about 10-20 and 10-20 in fruits and vegetables, and 5-16 in horticultural produce.
श्री तोमर ने कहा कि उत्पादन बढ़ाने, फसल कटाई में होने वाले नुकसान को कम करने तथा जलवायु के अनुकूल प्रजातियों को विकसित करने के लिए प्रौद्योगिकी के आदान-प्रदान हेतु द्विपक्षीय सहयोग को बेहतर बनाया जाना चाहिए।
Shri Tomar also expressed the need to increase bilateral cooperation in exchange of technology to increase productivity, reduce post-harvest losses and to develop climate resilient varieties.
