न तुम लोग मेरे क़रीब ही चढ़ने पाओगे वह लोग कहने लगे हम उसके वालिद से उसके बारे में जाते ही दरख्वास्त करेंगे

और जब हम ने फरिश्तों से कहा कि आदम को सजदा करो तो सबने सजदा किया मगर इबलीस वह गुरुर से कहने लगा कि क्या मै ऐसे शख़्श को सजदा करुँ जिसे तूने मिट्टी से पैदा किया है
When We said to the angels Prostrate before Adam they all prostrated but not Iblis he said Shall I prostrate before someone whom You have created from clay
कहने लगा देख तो सही उसे जिसको तूने मेरे मुक़ाबले में श्रेष्ठ ता प्रदान की है यदि तूने मुझे क़ियामत के दिन तक मुहलत दे दी तो मैं अवश्य ही उसकी सन्तान को वश में करके उसका उन्मूलन कर डालूँगा केवल थोड़े ही लोग बच सकेंगे
Said he Do You see this one whom You have honoured above me If You respite me until the Day of Resurrection I will surely lay my yoke on his progeny all except a few

ये सज़ा उनकी इस वज़ह से है कि उन लोगों ने हमारी आयतों से इन्कार किया और कहने लगे कि जब हम मरने के बाद सड़ गल कर हड्डियाँ और रेज़ा रेज़ा हो जाएँगीं तो क्या फिर हम नये सिरे से पैदा करके उठाए जाएँगें

उसे ख़ूब फल और पैदावार प्राप्त हुई इसपर वह अपने साथी से जबकि वह उससे बातचीत कर रहा था कहने लगा मैं तुझसे माल और दौलत में बढ़कर हूँ और मुझे जनशक्ति भी अधिक प्राप्त है
He had abundant fruits so he said to his companion as he conversed with him I have more wealth than you and am stronger with respect to numbers
उसका साथी जो उससे बातें कर रहा था कहने लगा कि क्या तू उस परवरदिगार का मुन्किर है जिसने पहले तुझे मिट्टी से पैदा किया फिर नुत्फे से फिर तुझे बिल्कुल ठीक मर्द आदमी बना दिया
His companion said to him as he conversed with him Do you disbelieve in Him who created you from dust then from a drop of seminal fluid then fashioned you as a man
अन्ततः प्रसव पीड़ा उसे एक खजूर के तने के पास ले आई वह कहने लगी क्या ही अच्छा होता कि मैं इससे पहले ही मर जाती और भूली बिसरी हो गई होती

फिर जब जनने का वक्त ़क़रीब आया तो दरदे ज़ह उन्हें एक खजूर के सूखे दरख्त की जड़ में ले आया और बेकसी में शर्म से कहने लगीं काश मैं इससे पहले मर जाती और न पैद होकर
